Richard was graded Shodan with the Karate Union of Great Britain in 1977 and is now Roku dan.
He was a competitor in both kata and kumite for many years in ESKA and has served as a referee in both ESKA and WSKA since 1993.
'Since it's inception in 1986 ESKA has become defined both by it's high technical standard of traditional shotokan karate and by the value it's membership place on good sportsmanship and behaviour.' Richard is confident that continued focus on these core values will contribute to the further development of the organisation in the years to come.
